On Wednesday 11th January 2012 Ted Baker hosted their bi-annual Ted's Team Day which showcased the up and coming trends for spring/summer 2012. While this seemed like a distant memory for use in the buying department at Ted it was a prize opportunity to see our hard work appreciated by the industry professionals.
Having only recently started working for Ted in the summer of 2011 this was the first opportunity for me to experience one of their Teds Team Days. It did not disappoint. There was a real sense of pride and ownership, not only from head office staff but from store staff alike.
The collections, not that I haven't seen them a hundred times over already, we're captivating. Fresh, vibrant and, er, summerery. They had a whole new lease of life and came alive on the carefully selected models.
The summer vibes were channeled through bright colour blocking of blues and reds, with dashes of yellow and pretty florals combined with statement accessories and skyscraper diamond encrusted heels. Hair was casually fixated in a bow by the great team at Headmasters and the makeup topped the look by transcribing a fresh vibe in a simply understated manner.
The show flowed accordingly and so it should with the heavily prepared backstage team (myself and the rest of Ted's team). With 6 outfit changes per model (total of 10 models) combined with menswear, over an hour that seemingly flew past, it ran smoothly, without hitch.
The full Spring Summer collections will be hitting down in stores soon, with some stores already having a taster in these cold weeks post Christmas. This season is sure to bring Ted great things, and what better way than to be the first label to showcase their collection ahead of runway season - we've set the standards high.
